After three years of underperformance, real estate investment trusts (REITs) have rebounded sharply through the first five and a half months of 2019. On a total-return basis, the FTSE NAREIT All REITs Index has outpaced the S&P 500 Index since the start of the year — yet some investors have been slow to warm to the asset class.

在连续三年表现不佳之后,房地产投资信托基金(REITs)在2019年前五个半月大幅反弹。以总回报率计算,富时NAREIT All REITs指数自今年初以来一直跑赢标普500指数,但一些投资者对这一资产类别的热情却一直不高。

Given increased macro and geopolitical uncertainty that could impact other asset classes, I believe now may be an opportune time to: 1) highlight the current tactical case for REITs; and 2) remind investors of the long-term strategic case – in other words, what I see as the benefits of having an allocation to real estate, specifically REITs, in any market setting.

鉴于宏观和地缘政治不确定性的增加可能会影响其他资产类别,我认为现在可能是一个恰当的时机:1)突出房地产投资信托基金当前的战术理由;2)提醒投资者注意长期战略案例——换句话说,我认为在任何市场环境下,将资金配置到房地产,特别是房地产投资信托基金,都是有好处的。
